Tubi FAST Platform reaches 74 million monthly active users. The free, ad-supported streaming platform, owned by Fox, also reached 1.4 percent of total TV viewing time in August.
Tubi, Fox’s free, advertising-supported streaming service, now has more than 74 million monthly active users.
That’s up from the 64 million reported in February. And the streaming platform, which was launched in 2014, has recorded close to 4 billion streaming hours for the first half of 2023.
As of July, Tubi also reached 1.4 percent of total TV viewing time, according to Nielsen’s most recent Gauge report. The platform became the second FAST service to break into the rankings in November 2022, following Paramount’s Pluto TV. Pluto reported more than 80 million monthly active users as of the first quarter of 2023.
“Tubi is now watched as much as a top 5 cable network. Additionally audiences continue to embrace our digital-first, 100 percent free streaming experience,” said Anjali Sud, CEO of Tubi. “The platform continues to scale with 47 percent growth in ad revenue and 65 percent growth in total viewing time [for the company’s fourth quarter over fourth quarter], and we are executing an ambitious strategy to define the next generation of entertainment through our diverse content, passionate audience, and innovative tech platform.”
The growth at Tubi comes as the FAST platform has expanded its content offerings to more than 200,000 movies and TV episodes. It also has close to 250 FAST Channels. The platform has also produced or acquired close to 200 Tubi Originals. It says these have been watched by close to 54 million viewers. The Originals include a Black Noir cinema slate, produced under Village Roadshow Pictures and Content Cartel in association with Fox Entertainment Studios.
Tubi also has a newly appointed CEO in Sud, who came to the platform after serving as CEO of Vimeo. She began in the role on Sept. 1, taking over from Tubi founder Farhad Massoudi.
